The sport in the NHL, NBA and MLB is blackened (i.e. the game is running but you can't see it). Anyone trying to stream a game from outside the local viewing area will be subject to blackout if they are within range. If you can't see a professional or college sports team in your area, these restrictions may apply. Teams cannot then decide who is allowed to watch the sport or team they want, so you can see not only their games but also their home games.
This is a slightly more complex problem, but the solution is more manageable for everyone, especially with streaming services like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. If you have a team, you will probably get a cheap TV antenna, but you can watch all the team's home games as well as their away games without antenna restrictions.
